First United Methodist Church in Clinton is an open and friendly Christian faith community
Open Hearts - We seek to follow Jesus' example of having a heart that is open to God's love and a heart that shows compassion to all we meet.
Open Minds - We believe that in our journey of faith God expects us to use our whole being which includes our intellect. You don't have to check your mind at the door in order to worship, pray, or study the Bible.
Open Doors - Everyone is welcome. Persons from a wide variety of backgrounds, experiences, and race find safe and welcoming community here. We seek to be a safe place where transformation, healing and a deepening life in the Holy Spirit is possible for all.
Open Communion - It is our belief that anyone who trusts in Jesus for their salvation, even if for the first time, is welcome to take the sacrament of Holy Communion with us. When you visit remember that you are welcome to participate in this sacrament with us.
Open Ministry - John Wesley, one of the founders of the Methodist revival movement, used the phrase, “the world is my parish” meaning that he would minister and share the Good News of Jesus Christ where ever in the world the Holy Spirit directed him to go. At First Church we embrace this idea and seek to minister and be available to anyone in the world and we are involved in mission projects locally, nationally and internationally. Practical implications:
- We are able to perform Weddings for non-members
- We are able to officiate at funerals for families who do not have a church
- We are able to help with many emergency needs for anyone in the community
